Knitting bug

It happens every year....

I wait all winter for spring, and when it arrives I ditch all my knitting projects and focus on bright jewelry for the summer months.

As the summer gets hotter and hotter...I quickly turn away and pick up the knitting sticks, as if by begining to knit the cooler weather is going to return with a waive of my magic knitting needle! Don't get me wrong. I do love summer. I love my garden, and I love being outside. It's just the heat! I would never last in the south.

So I began knitting my first scarf for the fall months. I tend to forget how relaxing the knitting is, even though it's hot as hell in the summer!

In other news, I added a lot of new earrings lately. I haven't decided when, but there will be a toe ring clearance sale coming up to rid me of most of them before winter. Keep an eye peeled if you see any that you like!

My husband plays drums with some guys in a band at least once a week and one of the guys wife (Kerry)who I met made a bracelet for a friend's daughter for her birthday. In conversation with the friend's daughter, I found that Kerry was on Etsy!

Beaded Collage Hair Clips

For a while now I have been wanting to make some new kind of hair clips, but there are soooo many on etsy already, I wanted to make mine distinctively unique. I'm not sure if anyone else's out there look like mine, but they are totally OOAK anyway!

Color was the number one priority for me, like it always is ;) Then texture, I love looking at things that have interesting texture so I added different styles of beads while "sculpting" the design with the wire that they are threaded on. I plan on making some others too, but adding maybe a fabric or yarn element? Who knows what this might lead too???

Squirrel Acrobatics!!

Back in May, as a birthday present to myself I bought a corn cob squirrel feeder. I also bought my usual bird and critter feeder mix for the bird feeders.

I was really bummed out that I never would see anything at the corn feeder! My husband said it was because I was offering too many goodies in the bird feeders for them.

Then one morning, all the seed bags on the porch were chewed open and seeds and nuts were all over my porch.

I knew the little buggers were some place.

I glace out my window on Wednesday to see this! I think that because I hid the seeds on the porch, and haven't been out to fill the bird feeders due to the rain, the squirrels got the hint and settled for their corn!

Ascension Buddha Love Beads

Ascension

If you know the story of Buddha, Siddhartha sat under a tree in meditation when he ascended into Nirvana and came to be awakened...or, Buddha.

I imagine going up into the sky, touching tree tops and gazing down onto the world below. All the beauty of the world, simultaneously in peace.

I made the most awesome Buddha love beads today! I felt like I had an epiphany or something at completion! They are one of my most favorite creations to date. I hope someone snags them up and loves them as much as I do. They come with an up cycled brown velvet box with a quote from the Dalia Lama inside.

They aren't listed in my shop yet, but they will be shortly at a price of $25.

My little boy....

I can't believe a year went by already and he seems to be growing in leaps in bounds. No walking yet, but I'm sure in no more than a month he'll be runing around! Enjoy some of our latest pics of my little sunshine superman Donnovan!

Newest toe rings

Hello folks, here's a shot of the newest toe rings to be listed on etsy. If there is one in particular that you see here in the picture that is not listed yet it will be shortly.

Summer isn't even technically here yet and I am so busy. My mom works part time and goes to school full time, and I have a 6 year old sister. Although she doesn't get a lot of hours, when she does I have been watching my sister and I have a new found respect for mothers with more than one young child! Taking care of the baby and my sis has been tiring sometimes! Needless to say, I don't get a lot of time to craft, so I savor it when I do. I suspect that come winter my shop is going to be dragging.
